Hitting-The-Wall Challenge for Ncemaneni

On 27th May, a group of seventeen teachers and parents from Winterfold and Bromsgrove Schools will be endeavouring to complete the full eighty-four mile length of the Hadrian’s Wall Path, from Newcastle to Bowness-on-Solway in three days to raise enough money to buy ‘the shoe that grows’ for the pupils at Ncemaneni Primary in S.Africa. Good luck everyone!

Year 2 History Trip to Coventry Transport Museum

Year 2 pupils were rewarded for their efforts in History this week with a trip to Coventry Transport Museum. The hands-on Victorian cycle workshop brought the subject of Transport to life, with several children dressing up and travelling back to Victorian England.  At ‘Wheelie Wicked’, the children followed an historic timeline of different modes of transport both past and present.

Aquathon

On 19th May, four intrepid Winterfold athletes competed in the annual Malvern College Aquathon. Basking in the Spring sunshine and overshadowed by the towering Malvern Hills, competitors swam, ran and transitioned for glory.  Competition was tough, with eight local independent schools taking part. Well done everyone – a superb effort in a really difficult discipline.

Blessing of the Statue of Our Lady

On Thursday 17th May, the whole of the Prep School and Pre-Prep gathered in the secret garden adjacent to the main house for the blessing of the statue of our Lady. Some of the children scattered rose petals as they led the way to the garden.  Together, we recited the Angelus prayer, sang ‘Ave Maria’ and we crowned the statue of Mary, to honour her as the Mother of Christ.  Father Lamb then granted an official blessing to the statue and spoke to the children about her.

U8 Rounders Festival

On Tuesday 15th May, we hosted an U8 rounders festival. Six matches were played with teams from RGS The Grange and King’s Hawford.   It was a beautiful, sunny day and the teams were clearly enjoying themselves, competing in a friendly atmosphere.  It was a valuable learning experience for these young teams.
