West Midlands Schools’ Orienteering Champions

On Saturday 12th May, Winterfold’s Orienteering team competed in the West Midlands Schools’ Orienteering Championships at Coombe Abbey Country Park, Coventry.

The event was superbly organised by the Octavian Droobers Orienteering Club and supported by the British Schools’ Orienteering Association.  Schools from across Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands competed over courses that ranged from 2km to over 5km.

Winterfold achieved successes across the Prep and Middle Schools age group, with our Year 5 runners achieving 3rd and 4th places, our Year 6 runners achieving 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places and our Year 7 and 8 runners achieving places inside the top 10.

With the best four runners’ scores counting towards the team competition, Winterfold achieved the highest number of points to retain the Prep and Middle Schools’ Orienteering Shield.

Well done everyone!
