This week, we have had our annual assessment of children who learn an individual instrument, to take a concise snapshot of the health of music at Winterfold and help the pupils develop, as they progress up the School.

Year 5 Hone their Physical Theatre Skills
Physical theatre is a form of theatre that puts emphasis on movement rather than dialogue. In Drama, Year 5 have been focussing on transition and controlled, choreographed movement.
First Netball Match for Year 3
There was enthusiasm and excitement in abundance on Tuesday 28th January, as our Year 3 girls experienced their first competitive netball match.
Woodwind Mini Me
With wonderful accompaniment on the piano from Mr Hobbs, the children performed a wide range of music beautifully, at this morning’s Mini Me.
Friends of Winterfold tour new Forest School site
On Friday 24th January, the Friends of Winterfold enjoyed an insightful tour of the new Forest School site with Mr Mitchell, Deputy Head (Pastoral).
Matty Thacker Shield
Wednesday 22nd January was a special day for Winterfold, as we hosted the Matty Thacker Shield in memory of a Year 6 pupil, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2008.
Isabel’s Festive Good Deeds
Kind hearted Isabel H gave up her time on Christmas Day to help the homeless at the YMCA in West Bromwich. Well done Isabel!
Mini Me – Brass
We had a wonderful Mini Me concert on Tuesday 21st January, led by Mr Sproston. The children played brass instruments including the Tuba Euphonium and the Trombone, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the assembled parents and staff. Well done to all.
Children in KG2 Celebrate Chinese New Year
The children in Kindergarten 2 have had great fun learning about Chinese New Year.
Space, the final frontier
Kindergarten 2 children are loving their Space topic and their Moon paintings are excellent. The earliest known drawing of the Moon is in a painting by Dutch master Jan van Eyck, painted nearly 600 years ago.
