Friends of Winterfold

Friends of Winterfold (FOW) is a parent-led fundraising and events committee, supported by school staff, that plays a vital role in enriching the Winterfold experience for all pupils and families.

We aim to:

- Enhance school life by funding additional resources, equipment, and experiences that go beyond the standard curriculum.
- Create community spirit through fun, inclusive events for pupils, families, and staff.
- Support parents through the provision of second-hand uniform sales and useful school essentials

Fundraising for Enrichment

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, FOW raises funds to support a wide range of enhancements, including:

Creative workshops and performances, such as music and storytelling sessions led by professional groups like the Toscana Strings Quintet.
Outdoor learning, including the purchase of a polytunnel for the Green Fingers initiative and funding for Forest School equipment and outdoor suits for all year groups.
Play and physical development, through contributions to new playground equipment and Early Years trikes and scooters.
Leavers ’celebrations, such as the annual provision of Year 8 hoodies.
Ice Lollies, funding ice lollies to be given to all pupils at Sports Day.
Funding exciting school initiatives, including the launch of Radio Winterfold and the Forest School, made possible through fundraising at events.

Building Our School Community

FOW organises a variety of fun and welcoming social events for families throughout the year, such as:

Autumn Term Highlights

Macmillan Coffee Morning
Fireworks Night
Breakfast with Santa
Christmas Market
Festive Wreath-Making Workshop

Summer Term Highlights

We alternate events biannually. On odd years, we host the much-anticipated Winterfold Summer Ball, and on even years we hold the Children’s Jamboree, featuring bouncy castles, face painting, sweet stalls, and ice cream, alongside Summer Drinks on the Lawn for parents and carers.

These events help bring our community together while raising valuable funds for the school.

The Friends of Winterfold School Shop

Our School Shop is another key fundraising activity that also provides a practical service to parents. We sell:

Good-quality second-hand uniform, with 50% of sales returned to parents who donate items
Essential school items, including caps, water bottles, book bags, and winter accessories
Second-hand musical instruments

The shop is run entirely by volunteers and is open every morning from 8:20–9:00am.

The success of FOW depends on the enthusiasm and support of our parent and staff volunteers. Whether you’re new to the school or have been part of Winterfold for years, we’d love for you to get involved.
