As a registered charity, Winterfold is committed to broadening access to the School by offering means-tested financial support with the payment of fees. Such support is known as a Bursary. The Bursary Scheme forms part of the School’s Public Benefit Policy and is designed to assist prospective parents who for financial reasons might otherwise be unable to send their child to the School. Bursaries may also be awarded to current parents who experience short-term financial difficulties.

Eligibility and Procedure for Applications

Bursaries are entirely means-tested and are awarded to parents who satisfy financial criteria set by the Governors of the School.

All applicants for Bursaries are required to complete a means questionnaire and provide the Governors with any supplemental information that is requested. The questionnaire is designed to provide a full picture of the income and capital assets of applicants so that the Governors can determine those to whom an offer of a Bursary would be most beneficial.

Bursary awards vary in size and are based on a careful and sympathetic scrutiny of individual family circumstances. No ‘rule of thumb’ generalisation of income levels is possible.

All Bursary awards are subject to review each year.

Owing to the limited financial resources of the School, not every eligible application for a Bursary will be successful.

Bursary applications are normally made at the same time as registering your child at the school but this may vary according to individual circumstances. Applicants should contact the Admissions Manager on 01562 777234 for further details.
