Year 4 enjoy intergeneration art session

This week our Year 4 pupils made the short journey to Foley Grange Care Home where they took part in an art workshop ran by Miss Roberts. Pupils and residents joined together to try their hands at painting in the Impressionistic style of Claude Monet. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere with lots of chatting and smiles. It was wonderful to see the animated interactions between the generations.

Pupils spoke confidently with the ladies and gentleman, sharing storied about their school experiences. The children were thoughtful listeners and their kindness was extremely heartwarming. In addition to this the art produced was of a brilliant standard.

We cherish our special relationship with Foley Grange Care Home and are honoured to be regular visitors. The visits to Foley Grange are a highlight of the week with many of the residents. One resident remarked that:

“the children are a breath of fresh air and I always look forward to their visits. Whether it’s a sharing a spot of gardening outside or indulging in some painting indoors I always know I will enjoy seeing the children from Winterfold”.

Winterfold art teacher, Miss Roberts who organised the trip added “The Year 4 pupils had a wonderful time at Foley Grange. They thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the residents and reminiscing about their time at school”.

Looking ahead our pupils will have plenty of opportunities to visit the residents at Foley Grange as ties with our Greenfingers Enterprise continue to grow and we look at more ways to develop our special relationship.
