Winterfold’s Young Stars Shine at Pre-Prep and Early Years Prize Giving

Last Friday morning, Winterfold School hosted its much-anticipated Pre-Prep and Early Years Prize Giving ceremony, celebrating the achievements of pupils from KG1 to Year 2 in a joyful and music-filled event.

The morning began with a warm welcome from Mr Mitchell, who offered a brief housekeeping talk before handing over to live band Groove Diggers, who set the tone with an upbeat musical opening. Mrs Toms followed with a heartfelt summary of the school year, highlighting the accomplishments and growth of the school’s youngest learners.

School Head Boy Freddie A and Head Girl Alice J delivered reflective speeches, sharing fond memories and milestones from their time at Winterfold.

The performances began with Kindergarten 1’s charming rendition of The Runaway Train, delighting parents and staff alike. Kindergarten 2 followed with It’s a Long Way to Tipperary, before receiving their end-of-year certificates. Reception pupils transported the audience back in time with a lively performance of Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag and Smile, Smile, Smile.

Year 1 kept the World War I theme going with The Quartermaster’s Song, and Year 2 rounded off the musical performances with a spirited version of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

Special awards were then presented to standout pupils, recognising excellence in academics, pastoral care, and other individual achievements across the year groups.

The event concluded with a rousing group performance of Sing by the entire Pre-Prep, accompanied by Groove Diggers, bringing the morning to a joyous close. It was a wonderful celebration of learning, creativity, and community – the perfect way to end the academic year.
