Castle Design for Winterfold Pre-Prep

Young designers at Winterfold have been making castles in DT in preparation for their visit to Tamworth Castle next week.

The Year 1 children are enjoying learning about the designed and made world and linking it back to history.

Tamworth Castle dates back to Anglo Saxon times and was a vitally important centre at the heart of the kingdom of Mercia.  In 874, Tamworth was attacked and destroyed by the Vikings but in 913 the daughter of King Alfred the Great, Athelflaed, Lady of the Mercians re-fortified Tamworth.

We look forward to seeing the finished castles and to hearing more about the children’s visit.
