Yr 5, 6, 7 trip to Pompeii

Following the success of our Classics tour to Pompeii and Herculaneum in 2014, Winterfold House School is delighted to announce that we will be giving this same opportunity to pupils from Year 5, 6 and 7.  The proposed tour is planned for April 2018.

The study of Roman culture is a fundamental part of our Classics curriculum across all year groups and the story of the eruption of Vesuvius features in the English and Geography curriculum at Year 7.  The opportunity to visit the sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum will provide pupils with an excellent insight into how the Romans lived, including the dramatic events of 69 A.D.  The tour will also include a day trip to the island of Capri where pupils will be able to explore the town, visit the Gardens of Augustus and ride on the Funicular railway between Upper and Lower Capri.  They will also be climbing Mount Vesuvius itself!
