Special Guest Delights Winterfold South Africa Tour Party

On Tuesday 21st March, Winterfold House School’s tour party to South Africa welcomed a special guest to their final tour meeting.  Thinus Delport, the South African wing and fullback delighted the group with his experiences of South Africa.

Thinus Delport made his senior debut in 1997 on the Springboks’ European Tour.  He started his career playing for the Lions in South Africa before joining Gloucester in 2002 and Worcester Warriors in 2004.  He has played against some of the world’s greatest rugby players and scored one of the top 10 tries ever scored by a Springbok.

During his talk to the pupils and parents, Thinus explained how passionate South Africans are about all sport, especially rugby.  He talked about the diverse scenery, cultures and languages.  “You will be exposed to a lot of new experiences you will never have thought you would see.  Go with an open mind and you will be amazed.  The power of sport truly unites”.
