Oliver’s Story – From Winterfold to Bromsgrove

➡ From Winterfold to Bromsgrove: Then and Now

We are delighted to share a series of student profiles celebrating the journey from Winterfold to Bromsgrove School. Each story reflects the strong beginnings shaped at Winterfold, where character, confidence, and curiosity first took hold, and shows how those foundations continue to support our pupils as they thrive at Bromsgrove today.

These profiles honour what Winterfold means to them and highlight the remarkable young people they have become.

Today, we share Oliver’s story who joined Winterfold aged 5.

Name: Oliver S (Old Winterfoldian 2014-2023, Reception to Year 8)

Current Year Group at Bromsgrove: Fifth Form

House at Bromsgrove: Wendron-Gordon

I joined Winterfold School in Reception ten years ago (2015). My favourite thing about the School is the family feel – every pupil is supported and encouraged to thrive. Winterfold is also where my love of drama comes from – I took part in shows and was, ultimately, chosen to be a Drama Scholar.

Winterfold prepared me for Bromsgrove by telling me what to expect and how to deal with the change. I am now in the Fifth Form and a boarder in Wendron-Gordon. For my GCSES, I am taking Triple Science, Maths, English, Drama, Latin, RS and Spanish. My favourite activities at Bromsgrove are the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the School Productions. We are so lucky to have amazing drama facilities at Bromsgrove and a huge co-curricular activities programme.

Winterfold was my first school, and it helped me to become the person I am today. Bromsgrove is now encouraging me to grow and develop the skills I brought with me from Winterfold with the support of those around me.
