Pupils at Winterfold School are celebrating an impressive set of results in their recent ABRSM music examinations, showcasing the breadth of musical talent and dedication across the school.
From beginner performers to advanced musicians, students achieved a remarkable range of merits and distinctions across multiple disciplines, including piano, strings, brass, woodwind, and singing.
Among the standout achievements, several pupils earned distinctions in their instrumental exams, including Sade A (Violin Grade 1 Distinction), Charles E (Initial Violin Distinction), and Darcy H (Cello Grade 1 Distinction), highlighting a strong cohort of young string players.
The school’s vocalists also shone brightly. Eva VW-R achieved a Distinction in Singing for Musical Theatre Grade 2, while Jonny H secured a Distinction in Singing Grade 2. A number of students earned merits in singing and musical theatre, including Daisie H, Gabriella W, Isabella VW-R, Isemay L-S, Florence P, Jocelyn W, and Thomas L, demonstrating both technical skill and expressive performance. Isabella D also achieved a pass in Singing for Musical Theatre Grade 1.
Instrumentalists across the school contributed to the success. Charlotte L (Flute Grade 3 Distinction) and Stanley Mitchell (Trumpet Grade 1 Distinction) led a strong showing in wind and brass, while Harrison G (Trombone Grade 4 Merit) and Zachary M (Trombone Grade 2 Merit, scoring an impressive 126/150) added to the accolades. In piano, Cameron M (Grade 5 Merit) and Joseph W (Grade 1 Distinction) were among those recognised for their achievements.
Younger pupils also took their first steps in formal music assessment, with Georgie M and Ellie S successfully completing their Piano Prep Tests.
Mr Jerry Price, Head of Music at Winterfold School, praised the students’ efforts, noting that the results reflect “not only musical ability but resilience, discipline, and a genuine love of performance.”
The school continues to place a strong emphasis on music as part of its wider curriculum, and these results highlight the success of that commitment. With such a high standard already achieved, Winterfold’s young musicians are well on their way to even greater accomplishments in the future.
