Laughter, music and plenty of fairy tale fun filled the stage as pupils from Years 7 and 8 came together to present a spectacular production of Shrek The Musical JR.
The feel-good performance showcased the talents of every pupil involved, with the entire cast working together to bring the magical world of Shrek to life. Audiences were treated to an entertaining evening packed with humour, energy and memorable musical numbers.
Leading the cast was Florence BA in the title role of Shrek, delivering a confident and engaging performance. Poppy C delighted audiences as the wonderfully comical Lord Farquaad, while Eva VW shone as the spirited Princess Fiona. Guiding the audience through the story were talented storytellers Gabby W, Emily C and Florence H, whose narration helped bring the fairy tale adventure to life.
While the principal characters took centre stage, every member of Years 7 and 8 played an important role in creating the vibrant world of Duloc, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, enthusiasm and commitment throughout the production process.
The production was expertly directed and choreographed by Mrs Stark, with musical direction provided by Mr Price. The house band, featuring Jaynie Berry, Henry Thomas and Tom Durham, provided excellent live accompaniment, adding to the excitement and atmosphere of the show.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated team worked tirelessly to create the magical setting. Mrs Roberts designed the impressive set, while Tess Wilson and Mark Jackson oversaw props. The costume team of Mrs Copson and Mrs Watts ensured the colourful cast looked the part, while Mr Mitchell managed lighting and projection to create stunning visual effects. Sound was expertly coordinated by Mrs Miles, helping every line and musical number reach the audience with clarity.
Before opening night, the cast performed dress rehearsals for a number of special guests, including pupils from Winterfold’s Pre-Prep, Years 3 and 4, visitors from Chaddesley Care Café, and local primary schools, including Chaddesley Corbett Primary School. These performances provided a wonderful opportunity to share the production with the wider community and were warmly received by all who attended.
The production was a tremendous success, full of laughter, positivity and community spirit. It was a fantastic celebration of creativity, confidence and collaboration, and a memorable experience for performers and audiences alike.
