After Winterfold

“Winterfold has helped me become a confident person with good academic grades. I now feel ready for the next stage in my life but I will never forget the amazing time I have had here!”   – Year 8 Pupil

Winterfold does not ‘feed’ any one particular senior school. As a result, we are able to give totally impartial, professional advice when the time comes for you to think about your child’s senior school. We know the schools and we know your child and are therefore in an excellent position to advise you on the one best suited to your child.

The preparation your child receives at Winterfold is designed to qualify them for entry to whichever school they choose. Our teaching is such that all children are successful in obtaining a place at their first choice school and many receive awards and scholarships. In the last 6 years our children have gained no fewer than 115 awards to a wide variety of schools.

As of September 2016, we have been working with Bromsgrove School which has enabled us to retain the distinct character and educational approach of our school while ensuring it is on a firm financial footing and has a robust strategic plan for the future. Winterfold pupils have access to Bromsgrove’s own sports centre, as well as the new Performing Arts facilities (due for completion in Summer 2017).

Our joint ambition is simple: to ensure Winterfold thrives while retaining its character, values, and distinctiveness. There is no presumption that pupils should choose Bromsgrove for their senior school. We fully expect there will continue to be a variety of destinations for Winterfold boys and girls after they have left, including Bromsgrove and indeed many leavers have gone on to local independent schools such as King’s School Worcester, RGS Worcester, Dodderhill School, King Edward’s Birmingham, Old Swinford Hospital and The Royal Grammar School. Others will choose more traditional boarding schools such as Malvern College, Cheltenham College, Shrewsbury School, Moreton Hall, Malvern St James, Cheltenham Ladies College, Rugby, Ellesmere, Bredon, Bedstone and others.
