Peacock Lodge – Weekly Round-Up

The start of term has been full of excitement, discovery and new experiences at Peacock Lodge and Forest School. Our youngest learners have been captivated by everything from tractors to ladybirds as they explored our wonderful outdoor spaces. Bubble popping on the field and their very first Forest School session have provided opportunities to move and explore in larger, open spaces, while beginning to build those all-important relationships with their peers and grown-ups.

Kindergarten Two have also been embracing the signs of the changing season as they begin working towards their ‘Autumn Challenge’ badge. The children were fascinated by sycamore seeds as they watched them fall and spin, while large, plump acorns from a Northern Red Oak were eagerly collected to use in the classroom. At Forest School, their learning continued as they explored the world of owls, building on their class story, Owl Babies. They discovered the different types of owls found in the UK before getting creative and making their own owls using pinecones.

For Reception, natural resources have provided a wonderful way to bring their ‘All About Me’ topic to life. The children have created their families using pebbles and collected leaves and herbs to make collages representing their ages. At Forest School, they eagerly got stuck into mud making before painting their hands and creating muddy handprints around a special ‘We are Reception’ sign.

Across Peacock Lodge and Forest School, these outdoor experiences provide endless opportunities for our children to develop their creativity, curiosity and confidence. Through exploring, creating and learning together, they are building a strong foundation for their future learning and growing relationships, setting them on an exciting journey as they continue to learn and flourish.
