Year 7 History trip to Hampton Court Palace

Year 7 travelled to London on Thursday 23rd March to visit Hampton Court Palace.

Having just finished studying the tumultuous reigns of Edward VI and Mary I, pupils were treated to a guided tour of the Tudor section of the palace, following in the footsteps of the two monarchs and their father Henry VIII.

A highlight of the tour was the ‘Haunted Gallery’ where Catherine Howard is said to have been dragged away from an audience with Henry in which she was pleading for her life.  Alas, there were no signs of Catherine’s ghost on the day.

Following the tour, smaller groups enjoyed a few hours exploring the Palace; visiting Henry’s Kitchens, the Young Henry Exhibition, William & Mary’s Royal Apartments and the Georgian Wing.
