Year 7 Codebreakers at Bletchley Park

Year 7 took part in a very interesting trip on Monday 30th April to Bletchley Park. This was the head of enciphering and codebreaking during WW2 and at the beginning of the Cold War.

The huts and house remain virtually untouched so it was a real trip back in time. The pupils were very engaged with all of the codebreaking activities on the tour given by a gentleman who had wonderful stories of growing up during the war near the Park.

Another highlight was the The Bombe Breakthrough exhibition exploring the challenges of Enigma and how Alan Turing, Gordon Welchman and others created the Bombe machine to help solve it, contributing to the success of Allied signals intelligence, ultimately impacting on the course of WW2.

It was a very successful trip to a fascinating place of mathematical, computing and military history.
