Year 5 visit Coventry Cathedral

Religious Education History were brought to life for Year 5 during their visit to Coventry Cathedral.  The pupils looked at the effect that ‘Operation Moonlight Sonata’ had on the City of Coventry when over 400 Luftwaffe bombers attacked in 1940.
The children loved dressing up in armed forces uniforms and finding out what life in a war time classroom would have been like.  They also reflected on the themes of forgiveness and working towards peace in the world.
Year 5 enjoyed admiring the world’s largest tapestry and visiting the Chapel of Unity. They took part in a lesson in a 1940’s schoolroom in the morning, before climbing the Cathedral tower in the afternoon.
This was a fascinating day out and a reminder to us all of how lucky we are to live in a peaceful country.
