Winterfold House Drama – Poetry and Prose

This year’s Poetry and Prose event showcased the English department’s love of English poetry and the language of both modern and classic poems. The children recited and presented poems from Samuel Taylor Coleridge to Brian Moses, Alfred Lord Tennyson to Roald Dahl, Robert Louis Stevenson to Roger McGough.

All of the children from Year 3 to 8 were involved, all contributing to their group or individual performances. The event was compered by Year 8 pupils and a number of individual speeches and monologues made by Year 5. The poems were clear and loud, communicating the beautiful English language that we all love.

Mrs Myles, Head of English & Drama said “I’m delighted by the standard of the performances this afternoon.  It is so nice to have the whole of the Prep School participate together. A huge thank you to all of the children and teachers who have practised hard to make the performance a success.
