Ski Trip to Fiesch, Switzerland

Another fun-filled ski trip took place over half term to Fiesch in Switzerland.  Sixteen very excited children took to the slopes and enjoyed a thrilling week of adventure. For the fourth year running, the group was able to stay in the superb Hotel Jungfrau, which is ideally situated next to the nursery slopes in Fiescheralp, with unrivalled views of the Matterhorn and the Southern Alps. This stunning location is absolutely breathtaking and we feel extremely privileged to be able to stay in such a wonderful place.

The weather was unbelievable, with clear blue skies for the entire week and temperatures which resembled Easter skiing rather than February! They were wonderful conditions to ski in, however, it is a little worrying to see this type of weather so early in the season and the concerns regarding global warming certainly became real to all of us.

The unrivalled attention and support given by our instructors enabled our group to make superb progress over the week. Our beginners, who had already experienced some sessions at the Snowdome before they left, were seen cruising around the mountain by the end of the week, enjoying the thrill of speed. Likewise, our other two groups managed to polish up their parallel turns and get some real mileage under their belts. On the last morning, there was a ski safari over to the next village of Betmeralp.  This enabled all of the children to ski together as one big group for a couple of hours. It was great to see everyone enjoying each other’s company, regardless of age, or ability and having some great fun on the slopes with their instructors.

As the hotel was situated at the top of the mountain, evenings were spent relaxing in the hotel and sledging outside the front door on the nursery slopes.  The traditional Kamikaze, Joker and Angel awards were presented every evening after dinner and on Thursday evening, there was the traditional pizza night.  On Thursday, there was a presentation evening during which the instructors awarded the certificates of achievement to the children in their ski groups.

Once again, the ski group was joined by a small group of parents who stayed in a neighbouring hotel and it was lovely to have their support and comradery throughout the week.  Thank you everyone for making this such a great trip.

There will be a Ski Social Evening soon which will be open to all parents and children from Years 4-8. Please do come along, enjoy a drink and a nibble, look at the photos and videos and find out more information about next year’s trip.  We look forward to seeing you all there.
