Shakespeare Day

On Friday 3rd May, pupils from Years 7 and 8 visited Shrewsbury School to take part in a day of Drama and movement, focusing on a number of Shakespeare’s plays.

On arrival, the children were split into three groups. Team Gold spent the day focusing on Henry V, learning how to show emotion and anger, through the use of movement and intonation of voice. Team Blue looked at The Tempest and recreated the storm and life on a doomed ship. This was achieved through soundscapes and movement. Team Red studied Macbeth and in particular, the witches’ spell.

The workshops looked at the use of language, sound and movement, with the day culminating  in an impressive performance from all three groups.

Winterfold stood out for its discipline on stage, enthusiasm and conviction when playing key characters. Our pupils learnt lots of new Drama techniques, made some interesting friends and had a fun filled day.
