Peacock Lodge Weekly Round-Up

Peacock Lodge has been sparkling with festive cheer this week as children across Kindergarten and Pre-Prep embraced a full programme of seasonal outdoor learning. The celebrations began with Kindergarten Two, who launched into a Nativity-themed adventure that brought the Christmas story to life in imaginative and playful ways. Using small-world characters nestled in real straw, the children retold the Nativity with great enthusiasm before heading outdoors for a lively picture hunt, searching for familiar faces from the story. Their afternoon ended in a burst of laughter and excitement as they donned elf and Santa outfits—perfect preparation for next week’s outdoor festive fun.

Adding to the excitement, Kindergarten Two also set off on a special outdoor trail filled with clues linked to their Autumn learning. Their curiosity, teamwork and problem-solving skills paid off as they proudly earned their very first outdoor learning badge of the year.

Pre-Prep pupils brought even more seasonal magic to Peacock Lodge during their half-termly visit. The mud kitchen became a hub of Christmas creativity, where children whipped up imaginative festive “dishes” and mixed reindeer food with great concentration. Mrs Claus’ bakery appeared in the form of scented playdough, inspiring plenty of cookie-making role play. Sensory water play—complete with bobbing cranberries and slices of orange—added colour, texture and excitement to an already rich learning experience. These sessions offered children a valuable chance to explore the outdoors, think creatively and collaboratively, and strengthen essential teamwork skills.

Reception pupils rounded off the week with the heart-warming story The Tree That’s Meant to Be, following the journey of a small fir tree longing to be loved. Inspired by the tale, the children created their own special trees by wrapping wool and threading beads around stick frames. Each unique, handmade tree was proudly taken home—ready to be displayed somewhere meaningful and shared with family.

It was a truly magical week at Peacock Lodge, filled with creativity, discovery and festive joy.
