Year 8 visit National Civil War Centre

In a Winterfold first, Year 8 visited the National Civil War Centre in Newark on Thursday.

As well as having time to explore the fascinating gallery of civil war artefacts, the pupils enjoyed two fantastic interactive sessions to explore two key questions: who was responsible for the war (the King or Parliament) and whether Charles I could have done anything differently to win the war.

Unusually for a museum, the children were permitted to handle and examine a range of original artefacts, ranging from coins, to armour and weaponry.

This was a fantastic trip that consolidated and complimented much of Year 8’s learning in class over the last six weeks.
