The wonderful Friends of Winterfold (FOW) have ensured that the second half of term has got off to an explosive start.
The first day back saw the annual Pumpkin Carving competition take place. Children returned to school laden with a myriad of colourful pumpkin creations ranging from the spooky to the cooky!
Children from Kindergarten to Year 8 were invited to take part in the competition and the entries this year did not disappoint. Well done to all those who took part!
Following hot on the heels of the pumpkin competition was the ever popular Friends of Winterfold Fireworks Extravaganza. Held on Wednesday evening, the event demonstrated the excellent community spirit that exists at Winterfold. It was a delight to welcome staff and boarders from Page House, Bromsgrove Prep School to join our festivities.
Excitement started building as the night drew in, a buzz began to form as members of the school community gathered at the front of the Main House. There was a large selection of refreshments available ranging from hotdogs and mulled wine to sweets and crisps. Our younger pupils were giddy with excitement over the selection of glowsticks and flashing wands that were available to purchase. Each stall was manned by volunteers from the parent and staffing body which really added to the wholesome community feel.
As the first rocket lit up the sky, a hush fell over the crowd. The display, arranged to music, lasted a good 15 minutes and mesmerised all in attendance.
It was a very special evening and we are incredibly grateful to Catherine Hale and the superhero FOW volunteers. Without the brilliant FOW events like these would not take place.
