Classics tour to the Bay of Naples

A year and a half in the planning, the Classics tour to the Bay of Naples finally jetted off on Friday 20th April.

Using Hotel Klein Wein in Piano di Sorrento as their base, the Winterfold tour party consisting of Year 6, 7 and 8 pupils and staff spent four days exploring the classical sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, flexing their geographical knowledge whilst climbing Mount Vesuvius, and learning about the history and natural wonders of the Island of Capri from land and sea.

Blessed with fantastic weather, the tour party of forty-three were able to enjoy the sites at their very best.  They all sampled some fantastic Italian food, both at the hotel and at the restaurants that formed part of the excursions, as well as squeezing in a little bit of shopping and culture on a night trip to the beautiful town of Sorrento.  A great time was had by all.
