Local Schools Come Together for Two Action-Packed Sports Partnership Events

Pupils from across Worcestershire enjoyed two energetic sporting occasions last month as the Sports Partnership hosted an U9 hockey competition, followed by an U10 tag rugby festival later in the month. Both events brought together local schools, young athletes and supportive families for celebrations of teamwork, skill and school sport at its best.

The programme began with the Year 4 hockey competition, which welcomed teams from Blakedown Primary, St Kenelm’s Primary and Clent Primary. Bathed in winter sunshine, pupils took part in a series of competitive matches that showcased their developing hockey skills, determination and impressive sportsmanship. Teachers and spectators praised the children’s encouragement of one another and their commitment to friendly, spirited competition. A particular highlight was the superb contribution of the Year 8 Sports Leaders, who refereed the matches with confidence, fairness and maturity, ensuring the afternoon ran smoothly.

A couple of weeks later, excitement returned to the all-weather pitches as the U10 Tag Rugby Festival brought together pupils from local schools for another lively afternoon of sport. The festival was filled with energy, teamwork and plenty of smiles as children enjoyed fast-paced games and the chance to build new friendships. Friends and family created a warm, supportive atmosphere from the sidelines, helping to make the event even more memorable.

Organisers praised the efforts of every participant across both events, highlighting the enthusiasm and sportsmanship that defined each occasion. They also extended their thanks to the families, staff and volunteers whose support helped bring the festivals to life.

Both the hockey competition and the tag rugby festival demonstrated the strength of the Sports Partnership’s commitment to providing high-quality opportunities for young people — and organisers say they look forward to welcoming schools back for more sport-filled events soon.
