Junior Concert Delights Packed Audience

A packed audience and a vibrant programme made this week’s Junior Concert a standout success, as young performers took to the stage at The Penryn for two consecutive evenings of music and dance.

Proceedings opened with the String Group, who set an elegant tone with a beautifully controlled rendition of Pachelbel’s Canon, followed by a lively Jamaican piece that immediately lifted the atmosphere. The Junior Band continued the momentum with a Disney-themed set, they played with impressive accuracy and flair, delighting the audience with familiar tunes.

Next, the Flute Ensemble delivered a polished performance of an American classic, producing a warm, blended sound that showcased their growing musicianship. The Percussion Group then brought a change of pace, filling the hall with powerful, energetic grooves that demonstrated both precision and confidence.

The Recorder Group followed, charming the audience with their customary aplomb and a cheerful take on Old Macdonald. The concert then transitioned into a colourful sequence of songs and dances featuring children from KG2 to Year 4. Highlights included lively renditions of There’s a Hole in My Bucket and She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain, alongside spirited country-style dances to Chicken in the Straw and Twinklin’ Toes.

The finale brought together all pupils from Years 1 to 4 for a rousing performance of Golden, originally by K-Pop group Demon Hunters. The contemporary piece, fresh from its recent Oscar win, provided a fittingly upbeat conclusion.

Staff and teachers were warmly thanked for their dedication and support. The concert was a joyful celebration of musical talent, enthusiasm, and the strong sense of community within the school.
