CTA netball tournament

Congratulations to our U9 and U11 netball teams who played so well at the CTA netball tournament on Saturday 9th March. Gold medals for the U9s and runners up medals for the U11s, after a nail biting golden goal defeat in the final.  Well done everyone.

CTA Football Tournament

Winterfold hosted the U9 and U11 CTA Football Tournament on Friday 8th March, with 190 young players doing their utmost to play well. The matches were close, with a number of them going to golden goal and penalty shootouts. The U9s lost their semi-final on a golden goal and eventually finished 4th, whilst the U11s lost their semi-final on penalties, before finishing 3rd. Hosting a tournament of this size is a real team effort. Thanks go to the Sports staff for their hard work, along with the grounds staff, catering team, Year 8 pupils and Gappies for working so hard in the organisation of the event.

Year 7 Visit to Hampton Court Palace

Year 7 spent a day at Hampton Court Palace on Thursday March 7th. The palace is one of the best examples of Tudor and late Stuart architecture in the country and its history fits snuggly into our common entrance curriculum in Years 7 and 8. Pupils were treated to a tour of the Tudor parts of the property by their very own Tudor-costumed guide, followed by visits to the Young Henry VIII Exhibition, William III’s apartments and the Tudor kitchens.

Year 5 Thespians

Year 5 treated us to a wonderful collection of monologues performed in Penryn Hall. We met characters from as long ago as the 13th century, then brought right up to date, with characters such as Mary Berry and Bear Grylls.  The curtain fell on the final performance to rapturous applause. Congratulations to the children for producing such a slick and professional looking production.
