ABRSM Exams
Every year, we have two sessions for ABRSM exam entry. Our drummers and bass guitar pupils sit Rock School exams. Well over 80 pupils sit exams every year, with a few reaching the heights of Grade 7 and 8. Exams are celebrated in assembly and often appear in local and national press.
Scholarships and Awards to Senior Schools
Winterfold has had a hugely successful track record of scholarships and awards to Senior Schools over the last decade. These have included awards to top local independent schools. Our pupils have also been awarded places at specialist music schools, such as Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester.
The School offers music awards for Year 6 pupils moving into Year 7. We have an excellent record of success in entrance exams and scholarships to senior schools. In the last six years, our pupils have gained a staggering 48 Academic Awards to a range of senior schools and all of our leavers secure a place at their first choice school.
Competitions
Each year, Winterfold musicians take part in a number of competitions, both regionally and nationally.
In recent years, our pupils have gone on to achieve the following results:
– A record breaking ten trophies at the 59th Dudley Festival of Music, Drama and Dance
– Winners of a National Partnership Jazz Award for the Groove Diggers
– Reaching the finals of the National Youth Music Festival (Groove Diggers)
– Groove Diggers and Off Beats receiving ‘highly commended’ for their performances at the Music For Youth Festival
– Off Beats reaching the Finals Showcase in the Open Jazz and Soul Event
