Friends of Winterfold is an organisation set up to promote goodwill and a sense of community amongst parents and friends of the school. We achieve this through social events put on throughout the school year. All money raised at our events is used to support special projects in the school. There is an annual Christmas Market, discos for the children, a Family Fun Day and a biannual Summer Ball. Most recently, we invited Sue Palmer, author of Toxic Childhood, to come and talk to us about bringing up children in the 21st Century.
The FOW School Shop sells secondhand uniform, new games kit, school coats, hats and scarves, bags and mathematics equipment and is staffed by a group of willing parents. The profits have enabled us to purchase match kit for all the teams in the school. The shop is open every morning during term time.
FOW Committee meetings are open to all. There are two in the Autumn term and one at the beginning of the Lent and Summer terms.
If you would like to find out more about Friends of Winterfold and dates of the next meeting please contact the Chairman, David Aldred, via the school office or Vice Chair, Jenny Robbins, at jennymrobbins@hotmail.com or 078997975353.
Friends of Winterfold Summer Ball 2009 Winterfold’s grounds once again provided the perfect setting for the FOW Summer Ball in June. The colour scheme this year was very vibrant and the bright pink carpet set off the cream interior of the marquee beautifully. The pink pre-dinner drinks were served on the lawns with the Winterfold Jazz Band, the Groove Diggers, to entertain the guests before supper. The champagne and cocktail bar in a double-decker bus proved a very popular attraction! Everyone ate, drank and danced the night away to the disco and Partners in Crime and a fantastic time was had by all!
