Winterfold Early Years has again been awarded ’Outstanding’ in a recent inspection by ISI! We were already aware that our Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception classes are wonderful but it is good to know that the professionals are in complete agreement! Four of our pupils have recently achieved success on a national level! Edward Lathe (Year 7) has gained a place in the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain, the premier symphony orchestra for children in the country. This year Edward will perform concerts with the orchestra at several venues, including the Royal Festival Hall in London and the Symphony Hall in Birmingham. Meanwhile, Lucie Fletcher (Year 6) reached the UK finals of the Open Mic Competition which is the largest competition for unsigned musical talent in the UK. Lucie came 4th in the U16 Competition at the O2 Arena in January. At 10 she was the youngest competitor and was up against 33 other finalists so she did incredibly well! Moving from Music to Sport, Grace Grenfell (Year 7) had a very successful time at the recent 2013 ITS British Taekwondo Championships, becoming double British Champion in both the U12 Mixed Patterns and in the U16 Syncro Patterns. As a result, she has been selected to represent England later in the year against teams from USA, Scotland and Wales! As if this wasnt enough, Year 6 pupil, Eshaan Rai has recently been awarded a bronze medal in a national maths competition. Along with other Year 6 pupils at Winterfold, Eshaan took part in the Primary Maths Challenge which is a competition taken by over 70,000 pupils around the UK. Eshaan was one of only 1600 pupils invited to go through to the final round of the competition and his score of 21 out of 25 puts him in the top 300 students in the country!
